Josh Gardner
PROFESSIONAL:
Josh Gardner is out of contract and pursing MLS options after earning Team MVP honors for the Carolina RailHawks in 2010. Gardner's seven goals and five assists were both career highs, helping Carolina to the USSF Division 2 Finals. In 2009, Gardner appeared for Carolina in 25 matches and played 1,322 minutes, with one goal and four assists. He assisted the RailHawks’ first goal and then scored the game winner against Estudiantes Tecos.
Prior to joining the RailHawks, Gardner played two seasons with the Seattle Sounders. In 2007, Gardner appeared in 27 games and had one goal and three assists, as the Sounders won Commissioner’s Cup and USL First Division championships. In 2008, Gardner appeared in 25 matches for the Sounders, with six goals and one assist.
Gardner began his professional career with the Los Angeles Galaxy, who selected him 13th overall in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft. In three seasons, Gardner appeared in 21 matches, logged 1,096 minutes and scored one goal. In 2005, he helped the Galaxy win MLS and U.S. Open Cup championships.
COLLEGE:
Gardner was a standout performer for the University of Cincinnati for three seasons with 14 goals and 15 assists in 60 matches. During his career, he was recognized with 1st Team All-USA Conference and a 2nd Team All-USA Conference awards, along with 1st Team All-Region (2003) and 1st Team All-Ohio (2004) recognition.
