Thomas was drafted in the second round (19th overall) of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft by San Jose Earthquakes. Shortly after the draft Thomas left the States to go on trial with Halmstads BK in Allsvenskan. After an extended trial, Thomas signed with Halmstad. Thomas left Halmstads BK in July 2010 to sign with Superettan club Ljungskile SK. He immediately became a regular first team member and contributed 3 goals and 2 assists in 15 matches.
