Nikki Krzysik
Nicole Marie Krzysik (born 23 May 1987, in Ridgewood, New Jersey) is an American soccer defender and midfielder currently playing for Philadelphia Independence of Women's Professional Soccer and is a member of the United States U-23 women's national soccer team.
WPS:
* Selected in the 1st round (5th overall) of the 2009 WPS Expansion Draft by the Philadelphia Independence
* Played in 14 games and started 10 for the Red Stars, recording 849 minutes
* Acquired in the 2nd round (13th overall) of the 2008 WPS General Draft by the Chicago Red Stars
International:
Made 11 starts for the U.S. U-23 National team in 2008. Played for the United States at the 2004 U-19 and 2006 U-20 World Championships Played key role is U.S. winning the 2006 CONCACAF U-20 Final Women’s Qualifying Tournament. Represented the United States at the U-16, U-17 and U-21 levels.
Club:
Played with W-League Richmond Kickers in 2008. Started six games, recorded an assist and helped Kickers defense post three shutouts. Made 10 appearances with Jersey Sky Blue in 2007, helping them to the W-League Eastern Conference Semifinals. Played for the W-League’s New Jersey Lady Stallions in 2004.
College:
Named Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year as a senior in 2008. Semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy. Played every minute to anchor a Cavalier defense that posted nine shutouts and allowed just 5.1 shots per game. Added three goals and three assists offensively. Named All-ACC first team twice, in 2007 and 2008. Started on a 2007 defensive unit that led the nation in GAA (0.40) and set a school record with 15 shutouts. Scored the game-winning goal in 1-0 win over William & Mary in the 2007 NCAA Tournament second round with 14 seconds to play in regulation.
High School / Youth Club:
2004 NSCAA High School Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Two-time Parade Magazine All-American. Holds Clifton High School records for goals in a season (21) and career (55).
