A First Team All-Big East selection in 2009. Vroom played as an outside player his freshman and sophomore seasons before manning the forward line for DePaul University. Along with his First Team All-Big East recognition, Vroom received 2nd Team All Great Lakes honors while leading DePaul in scoring his senior season in 2009. As a junior in 2008, Steffen contributed to DePaul's NCAA National Tournament appearance with 4 goals, 2 assists and collected 2nd Team All-Big East and 3rd Team All-Great Lakes honors.
